The most amazing, lightweight foundation for a flawless finish

Okay, so I’m not the biggest foundation person out there. I prefer my tinted moisturizers, BB creams, CC creams- anything that’s lightweight and quick/easy to apply- which is probably why I adore Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation. This foundation is PERFECT for the summer and the insane humidity in Dubai right now. It’s also a great foundation if you like your makeup more on the light side and are a fan of the natural look.

What It Is:

A lightweight, noncomedogenic foundation with sunscreen that blends brilliantly into skin, leaving your complexion even and matte, yet radiant.

The Lowdown:

  • water & powder free (no cakeyness here!)
  • easily distributed onto skin
  • super light (you forget you have foundation on type of light), yet it perfects the skin
  • contains oils that quickly evaporate, leaving behind nothing but pigment
  • just a few drops leave your skin looking flawless
  • perfect for normal to oily skin range (if you have dry skin this isn’t for you)
  • provides light coverage (you can layer to achieve medium coverage)
  • about 64 USD

This foundation works wonders on oily skin and helps keep shine in check, making it a complete blessing for hot, humid Dubai nights. It leaves your skin with a semi-matte finish, but still glowing in a healthy, radiant way- not the I have an oil slick on my T-zone type of way.

Remember to shake the bottle before applying it. All you need is a few drops (2-4 drops). I like to apply this using my fingers. Start at the center of your face and use quick sweeping motions outwards (quick because your skin absorbs it rather fast). Keep in mind that this is more like a really amazing tint than a full coverage foundation, so if you’re looking for full coverage, definitely look elsewhere.

Product Spotlight: Moroccan Oil Moisture Repair Shampoo & Conditioner

I’ve been dying to get my hands on Moroccan Oil products for a while, but I prefer not to order beauty products during the summer (it’s really hot in Dubai and they’re not stored properly upon delivery). Lucky for me, I was able to find the shampoo and conditioner I was looking for on a recent trip to Amsterdam. This is, hands down, my favorite shampoo conditioner duo of all time. It smells amazing, it has no nasties/harmful ingredients, it’s great for color treated hair and it leaves your hair looking absolutely stunning. It’s such a bummer that they don’t sell the products here!

What It Is:

A shampoo & conditioner that targets hair that has weakened/been damaged by color, heat styling or chemical processing.

The Lowdown:

  • moisture & elasticity are restored to damaged hair
  • color is maintained
  • hair becomes more manageable
  • reduces dullness and frizz
  • free of sulfates, parabens and phosphates
  • won’t dry, strip or fade color-treated hair
  • about 45 USD (pricey, but worth it)

What’s In It:

  • Argan oil (packed with antioxidants & extremely nourishing)
  • keratin (natural protein found in hair that makes her look healthy/lustrous)
  • fatty acids (moisturize & revitalize hair)

The shampoo and conditioner are both highly concentrated. When using the shampoo, make sure your hair is soaking wet because the shampoo needs water to lather up. You only need a bit of the conditioner- start from your ends and lightly graze your roots (if you have fine hair, avoid your roots).

Friday’s Favorite: Estee Lauder Sensuous Noir Eau de Parfum

Hey guys! So today I wanted to blog about my current favorite evening perfume. I used to LOVE Dior’s Midnight Poison and this was the closest I could get to it considering I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Sensuous Noir is a really sultry, voluptuous, intense perfume. It’s great for a date night or a night out- the scent is super sexy and sensuous (hence the name).

What It Is:

An intensely rich, seductive, woody perfume that has beautiful neutral floral notes.

Top Notes: jasmine, rose, pepper, spices.

Main Notes: patchouli, guaiac wood, lily, pine.

Base Notes: amber, honey, vanilla, benzoin.

If you’re looking for a sexy, sultry perfume to add to your collection, then look no further than Estee Lauder’s Sensuous Noir. This perfume will have you feeling just as beautiful as it smells! It’s about 50 GBP for 50 ml. A little bit goes a long way with this scent. I think I’ve found a staple for my evening perfume collection!

Get that combination skin in check with Origins Checks and Balances

Hi guys! I know I’ve been MIA for a while, but I’m back to blogging now and I wanted to start my first post with this incredible Origins face wash I’ve been using- Checks and Balances. This is a great product for people with combination skin- it helps with oil, but doesn’t dry you out.

What It Is:

A gentle, frothy face wash that balances dry and oily patches, leaving your skin healthy, supple and shine-free.

The Lowdown:

  • keeps combination skin balanced
  • skin feels refreshed, never tight
  • soothing scent
  • great for sensitive skin
  • no nasties (sulfates, parabens, phthalates)

What’s In It:

  • broad leaf kelp extract (helps with excess oil production)
  • wheat protein (balances & protects dry areas)
  • tourmaline (makes water wetter to help get rid of dirt & excess sebum)
  • bergamot, lavender, & spearmint (they smell yummy & are super soothing)

I love Origins products because they’re great for sensitive skin (me) and are all natural. They also smell delicious and really get the job done! I honestly prefer my La Roche-Posay Effaclar Foaming Gel for Oily Sensitive Skin, but that’s mainly because I prefer foaming gels to frothy one’s. This is a great face wash if you prefer frothy face washes and it works BRILLIANTLY with a Clarisonic (gets every last bit of makeup off).

Keep your skin clear and radiant with this amazing mask

When I was traveling I got my hands on some Origins products, which I’ve been DYING to get my hands on for a while (Dubai, please make my life easier and bring these products here!). I love the fact they’re natural and they have such amazing reviews, so I was really excited to try them out. I haven’t gotten around to trying everything yet, but I have tried their Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask and OMG I’m in love. This mask instantly made my skin appear more fresh, smooth and radiant- I’m hooked. I regularly use some sort of a mask for pores or combination skin and this is one of my favorites so far.

What It Is:

A deep-cleansing clay-based face mask.

The Lowdown:

  • draws oil & dirt out from pores
  • reduces breakouts
  • minimizes the apperance of pores
  • suitable for sensitive skin (won’t aggravate your skin)
  • pores look instantly tighter
  • use it once a week for results (I use it twice a week)
  • suitable for all skin types
  • no sulfates, parabens, GMOs, or other nasties here

What’s In It:

  • activated charcoal (acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers)
  • white china clay (absorbs environmental toxins)
  • lecithin (dissolves impurities)

I’m seriously in love with this mask and can’t wait to try out the rest of my products! Anything that can show me results after just one use is amazing in my book.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Totally in love with my new eye cream

I’m obsessed with eye cream and I’m constantly switching them up. When one finishes,it’s on to the next one and now that I’ve finished my Pai eye cream (loved it), I’ve decided to go back to Chanel Ultra Correction Lift Total Eye Lift. I really love this eye cream. The texture is amazing, it really keeps your eyes hydrated, makes the skin look more supple and it lasts a REALLY long time.

What It Is:

An anti-aging eye cream.

The Lowdown:

  • moisturizes & firms skin
  • reduces dark circles
  • minimizes puffiness
  • oil-free & fragrance-free
  • super silky on application
  • cushions & comforts skin
  • eyes look instantly relaxed, revitalized & radiant
  • about 100 USD

What’s In It:

  • glycerin
  • butylene glycol
  • Shea butter
  • Elemi PFA (a derivative of elemi-tree extract that increases production of tensin- a naturally occurring protein that firms skin)

I’d have to honestly say that this is one of my favorite eye crams of all time. Even when I’m sleep deprived, it manages to brighten up my eyes and it’s just SO moisturizing. I love the fact that it’s oil-free, yet really hydrating and I can really see the difference in my eyes. It literally works it’s magic instantly and that’s exactly what I was looking for from my eye cream!

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Outfit Inspiration

Like every girl out there, I’m a fashion junkie and I’ve decided to start sharing looks that I love with you guys. Whenever I have spare time, I love putting together pieces/outfits that I would wear. It’s a wish list of sorts or just inspiration for me when it comes to my wardrobe. I’m completely digging this look- so simple and laid-back, yet still chic and stylish. What do you guys thinks?Image

Shine be gone, I’ve found a new toner.

Humidity is on the rise here in Dubai, which means if you’re not careful, you’ll be shining bright like a diamond (not the good kind of shining either). I’ve had to adjust my skincare regimen to the new hot and humid climate and one of the first things I did was switch up my toner and it’s made SUCH a difference in my shine factor. I’m such a big fan of Lush’s Eau Roma Water Toner, but it was more suited for my skin during dry months as my skin is combination, so I picked up the Tea Tree Water Toner by Lush and it’s AMAZING.

This toner is great for combination skin, oily skin or skin that’s prone to break outs. It really helps keep your shine in check, which I’m absolutely loving. Who wants a shiny face after all?

What It Is:

A toner that keeps oily skin clear and refreshed while brightening up skin.

The Lowdown:

  • keeps skin clear (antibacterial & anti-fungal, so it keeps breakouts at bay)
  • balances skin tone
  • reduces redness & zaps excess oil without drying out skin
  • alcohol free (not drying)
  • invigorating & refreshing
  • great for combination, oily, or blemish-prone skin

What’s In It:

  • Tea Tree Water (antibacterial, anti-fungal, prevents pimples & clarifies skin)
  • Juniperberry Water (antiseptic qualities that help keep skin clear)
  • Grapefruit Water (it’s astringent action improves skin tone & works wonders for acne-prone/oily skin)

This toner is great for those who suffer from shine or breakouts, and it’s amazing if you live in a humid climate. I’m definitely going to be swapping my Eau Roma Water for this all summer long.

The Miss List: Johnson’s Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

This eye makeup remover totally didn’t work for me. It stung the skin around my eyes and was extremely irritating. There’s nothing gentle about it! I’ve been using the L’Oreal Absolute Eye & Lip Makeup Remover for years now and that works absolutely amazing, but I couldn’t find it when I popped into the pharmacy and went for Johnson’s since they’re usually great for sensitive skin. I tried to use it a few times and then just decided it wasn’t worth irritating my skin over a measly eye makeup remover.

Did anyone else have a bad experience with this? We all react to products differently, so what works for me, may not work for you and vice versa, but I like to let my readers know when something doesn’t work for me because I hate spending money on a product I have to toss, or going out of my way to get something that doesn’t end up working out. In the case of this eye makeup remover, luckily it’s not that much money. It was just annoying and really irritating.

What are some of your favorite eye makeup removers?
